Survey work begins at Lochmaben Castle

Geophysics survey work has begun at the ruins of Lochmaben Castle to see if there is any indication of artefacts of significant interest. The Castle was a significant fort in medieval times but it has largely fallen into disrepair ever since. Teams from Historic Envirornment Scotland hope to begin a archeological dig next year but need to wait for the results of this week long survey to see if anything of value is hidden. We talked to Archaeologist Adrian Cox about the survey work and what they hope to achieve.

Members of the public are invited for an open day at the site between 1030 and 1230 on Thursday 15th.
